SAMdev Preferred Options Consultation March 2012

Consultation into the Site Allocations and Management of development (SAMdev) Preferrd Options Plan.

The key purpose of the SAMdev Preferred Options document is to: 

  • Identify sustainable growth targets for Shropshire's market towns
  • Identify Community Hubs and Community Clusters in the rural area
  • Where needed, identify appropriate sites for future housing and employment development in market towns, community hubs and community clusters
  • Provide additional Development Management policies which can be used in the consideration of planning applications

Consultation documents and how to comment

There are 18 'Place Plan' areas in Shropshire and each one of these has its own SAMdev consultation document, along with a seperate consultation document containing the draft Development Management Policy Directions.

Reference copies of all these documents are available to view at the following locations:

  • Shropshire Council's website www.shropshire.gov.uk/samdev
  • Libraries and Customer Information Points
  • Shropshire Council Offices
  • Parish and Town Councils Offices where possible

Submission of the Shropshire Council Site Allocations and Management of Development (SAMDev) Plan to the Secretary of State

Notice is hereby given under Regulation 22(3) of The Town and County Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, that Shropshire Council submitted the Site Allocations and Management of Development (SAMDev) Plan to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government on 1st August 2014 for independent examination.

The SAMDev Plan Pre-Submission Draft, Submission Policies Map, Sustainability Appraisal, Consultation Statement and addendum, Schedule of Proposed Minor Changes, representations received, Summary of the Main Issues Raised in the representations and submitted evidence base can be viewed on our website via: www.shropshire.gov.uk/samdev from midday on Friday 22 August 2014. 

Paper copies of the SAMDev Plan Pre-Submission Draft, Submission Policies Map, Sustainability Appraisal, Consultation Statement and addendum, Schedule of Proposed Minor Changes and Summary of Main Issues Raised in the representations are available for inspection at our principal office at Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury during normal office hours. Paper copies are also available for inspection during normal opening hours at:

Examination of the SAMDev Plan

Inspector Claire Sherratt DIP URP MRTPI has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the SAMDev Plan is sound.

The examination is a continuous process running from submission through to the receipt of the Inspectors report. Part of the process will involve hearing sessions where those invited to attend, will have the opportunity to respond to matters raised by the Inspector. Once information on the hearing sessions is confirmed, all details relating to the examination process will be advertised, made available online and sent to all respondents.
